Appliance disposal in Los Angeles: LASAN pickups and drop-off days
LA Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) picks up bulky items from single-family homes in the City of Los Angeles on the regular trash day, at no extra charge and with no item limit. It has to be booked at least one business day before your collection day, online, through the MyLA311 app, or by phone, and LASAN asks for a quick list of what is going out so it sends the right truck.
LASAN’s list of what it cannot take at the curb includes commercial appliances, along with construction materials, chemicals and automotive parts. Before booking, it suggests donating furniture or appliances that are still in good shape.
If you would rather drop items off, LASAN opens five yards once a month on a Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM: Sun Valley, Northridge, San Pedro, West LA and Central LA. LASAN’s 2026 schedule lists November 21 and December 12 as the last two dates of the year.
The service covers homes in the City of Los Angeles. The other cities in Los Angeles County are separate municipalities that arrange their own collection.
Curbside service means getting the appliance to the curb by collection day. If you would rather it went straight from the kitchen or the garage, book a pickup and your Loaders carry it out. Refrigerant must be removed by a certified technician before pickup.

The Los Angeles climate and your appliances
3BHot and dry
Los Angeles sits in climate zone 3B under the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code. Intense summers, low humidity and mild winters, with air conditioning doing most of the work.
Pickup tip. Book a morning window in summer. Metal that has sat in the afternoon sun is too hot to handle, so keep anything outside in the shade.

What to have ready before your Loaders arrive
What happens to your old appliance
LoadUp always tries to donate a working appliance first. Whether an appliance can be donated depends on its condition, your location, and whether a local donation center will accept it.
When no local donation center will accept an appliance, responsible disposal is the priority. LoadUp recycles appliances whenever possible.

Booking appliance removal in Los Angeles
Straight answers on price, timing and getting ready for a pickup in Los Angeles, CA.
How much does appliance removal cost in Los Angeles?
Appliance removal in Los Angeles starts at $70 for a small appliance such as a microwave, and every appliance has its own starting price: a washing machine from $85, a refrigerator from $115. A second appliance on the same pickup adds only its add-on price, from +$15, because the service fee is charged once. You see the exact total for your Los Angeles address before you book.
Can I get same-day appliance pickup in Los Angeles?
Often, yes. Same-day pickups are available across the LoadUp network when you book before noon, and availability varies by location, so the booking window shows the times open for your Los Angeles address. Same-day pickup adds $10. If you would rather plan ahead, you can book for the next day or up to 90 days out.
How do I book appliance removal in Los Angeles?
Select Get Instant Price, choose the appliances going out, enter your Los Angeles address and pick a pickup window. You see the exact price before anything is confirmed, and your Loaders arrive in the window you chose.
Will the Loaders come inside my Los Angeles home, or do I leave it at the curb?
Either. With in-home pickup your Loaders carry the appliance out from wherever it sits in your Los Angeles home, including basements, upstairs rooms and apartments. If it is already outside, curbside pickup saves $5 and you can skip the appointment.
Do you cover the rest of Los Angeles County?
Yes. Pickups are available in Los Angeles and across Los Angeles County, and in nearby places such as Culver City, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica. The LoadUp network covers all 50 states and Washington, DC.
What do I need to do before my Los Angeles pickup?
Every appliance needs to be disconnected before pickup, including electrical, gas, and plumbing connections. Refrigerant must be removed by a certified technician before pickup. This applies only to refrigerators, freezers, wine fridges, ice machines, dehumidifiers and AC units. Clear a path from the appliance to the door, and if you live in an apartment building, check its rules for elevator bookings and move-out hours.
