Pickup options
Before your Loaders arrive
- Refrigerant must be removed by a certified technician before pickup. Your Loaders do not remove refrigerant and cannot take an appliance that still contains it.
- Every appliance needs to be disconnected before pickup, including electrical, gas, and plumbing connections.
- Empty the collection bucket.
- Coil the drain hose.
Your Loaders pick up the unit once it is disconnected and ready to move.
What happens to your old appliance
LoadUp always tries to donate a working appliance first. Whether an appliance can be donated depends on its condition, your location, and whether a local donation center will accept it.
When no local donation center will accept an appliance, responsible disposal is the priority. LoadUp recycles appliances whenever possible.
Almost always a basement pickup
A dehumidifier is one of the lighter items we take, and one person can carry it, so the pickup itself is simple. What shapes the job is where it’s been running: basements and crawl spaces, at the bottom of the narrowest stairs in the house, often with a hose snaking to a floor drain and a full bucket inside. Empty the bucket, coil the hose, and it walks straight out.

Dehumidifier removal FAQs
Good to know before you book
Straight answers on cost, prep and what happens on the day.
Does the water tank need to be emptied?
Yes. Empty the collection bucket so it isn’t sloshing on the way up the stairs.
Can it go out with other basement items?
Yes. It’s small enough to add to a pickup you already have booked.
What has to happen before you can take it?
Refrigerant must be removed by a certified technician before pickup. Your Loaders do not remove refrigerant and cannot take an appliance that still contains it.
How much does dehumidifier removal cost?
Dehumidifier removal starts at $90 through the LoadUp network. What you actually pay depends on how many appliances are going, how big they are, and whether you choose curbside or in-home pickup. A basement or an upper floor can change the quote too. Either way, the full price is on screen before you confirm.
Do I need to disconnect my appliance before pickup?
Yes. Every appliance needs to be disconnected before pickup, including electrical, gas, and plumbing connections. Your Loaders pick up the unit once it is disconnected and ready to move. If you're not sure how to disconnect a specific appliance, a plumber or electrician can help beforehand.
Can I get same-day appliance pickup?
Often, yes. Book before noon and same-day pickup is available across the LoadUp network, though availability may vary by location. Planning ahead instead? You can book for the next day or up to 90 days out.
Can I bundle multiple different appliances into one pickup?
Yes, and it's the cheaper way to do it. Clearing out a kitchen? Put the refrigerator, dishwasher and stove on one booking instead of three. The service fee is charged once per pickup, so each extra appliance adds only its own price, and you see the new total before you confirm.
Are old appliances considered hazardous or e-waste?
Some are, depending on the type. Appliances with refrigerant, like refrigerators, freezers, and AC units, fall under EPA regulations because of the refrigerant, and small electronics-heavy appliances can qualify as e-waste in some municipalities. Ovens, dishwashers and washers generally don't need special handling, but local rules vary, so it's worth a quick check if you're getting rid of one yourself.
Why do appliance removal prices vary so much between item types?
Mostly weight, size and how awkward the thing is to carry. A microwave or coffee maker is a quick, light job. A water heater or furnace is heavy and awkward, and sometimes takes extra labor. Appliances with refrigerant or gas connections also tend to price higher, reflecting the added care needed around those components even though the actual disconnection work falls to you or a technician beforehand.
Who's responsible for removing appliances left behind by a previous tenant or homeowner?
It depends on your lease or purchase agreement. In most rentals, whoever lives in or owns the place now ends up dealing with it, unless the agreement puts that on the previous tenant or seller. It's one of the most common reasons people book a pickup: an appliance that was never theirs, but is now their problem.
