Pickup options
Before your Loaders arrive
- Refrigerant must be removed by a certified technician before pickup. Your Loaders do not remove refrigerant and cannot take an appliance that still contains it.
- Every appliance needs to be disconnected before pickup, including electrical, gas, and plumbing connections.
- Pull out any loose racks and bottles.
- Have an under counter unit clear of its cabinet opening.
- Lay cardboard on a finished floor to protect it on the way out.
Your Loaders pick up the unit once it is disconnected and ready to move.
What happens to your old appliance
LoadUp always tries to donate a working appliance first. Whether an appliance can be donated depends on its condition, your location, and whether a local donation center will accept it.
When no local donation center will accept an appliance, responsible disposal is the priority. LoadUp recycles appliances whenever possible.
Freestanding rolls, built in needs freeing
A freestanding wine fridge rolls out like any small appliance. An under-counter unit is a different job: it’s set into a run of cabinets with trim holding it in place, and there’s usually a nice finished floor right in front of it, the kind that shows every scratch. Once the unit is clear of its opening it comes out quickly, and a path of flattened cardboard keeps the floor looking the way it did.

Wine Fridge removal FAQs
Good to know before you book
Straight answers on cost, prep and what happens on the day.
Can a built in wine fridge be taken out?
Yes, once it’s free of the surrounding cabinet and sitting clear of the opening.
Do the racks need to come out?
Take out any loose racks, and any bottles you’d like to keep. Fixed shelving can stay put.
What has to happen before you can take it?
Refrigerant must be removed by a certified technician before pickup. Your Loaders do not remove refrigerant and cannot take an appliance that still contains it.
How much does wine fridge removal cost?
Wine Fridge removal starts at $105 through the LoadUp network. What you actually pay depends on how many appliances are going, how big they are, and whether you choose curbside or in-home pickup. A basement or an upper floor can change the quote too. Either way, the full price is on screen before you confirm.
Do I need to disconnect my appliance before pickup?
Yes. Every appliance needs to be disconnected before pickup, including electrical, gas, and plumbing connections. Your Loaders pick up the unit once it is disconnected and ready to move. If you're not sure how to disconnect a specific appliance, a plumber or electrician can help beforehand.
Can the Loaders carry an appliance down stairs or out of a basement?
Yes. Your Loaders carry appliances out from wherever they sit: upstairs laundry rooms, basements, tight hallways, narrow kitchens. You don't have to get anything to the curb first. A clear path from the appliance to the nearest door makes the job quicker and safer.
Can I get same-day appliance pickup?
Often, yes. Book before noon and same-day pickup is available across the LoadUp network, though availability may vary by location. Planning ahead instead? You can book for the next day or up to 90 days out.
Can I bundle multiple different appliances into one pickup?
Yes, and it's the cheaper way to do it. Clearing out a kitchen? Put the refrigerator, dishwasher and stove on one booking instead of three. The service fee is charged once per pickup, so each extra appliance adds only its own price, and you see the new total before you confirm.
Can I get a rebate or cash back for recycling an old appliance?
Sometimes, depending on where you live. Some utility companies and appliance manufacturers run recycling rebate programs, often for refrigerators and freezers specifically, that pay a modest amount, typically in the $15 to $50 range, for turning in a working or non-working unit through a specific drop-off or pickup process. Programs and payouts vary a lot from place to place, so check with your local utility first. A rebate program and a pickup service usually aren't the same thing.
Are old appliances considered hazardous or e-waste?
Some are, depending on the type. Appliances with refrigerant, like refrigerators, freezers, and AC units, fall under EPA regulations because of the refrigerant, and small electronics-heavy appliances can qualify as e-waste in some municipalities. Ovens, dishwashers and washers generally don't need special handling, but local rules vary, so it's worth a quick check if you're getting rid of one yourself.
