A blender is a one-hand carry and the lightest appliance in the catalog by a wide margin. Moving it is never the problem. The practical question is how to get rid of it without paying a full pickup for something you could lift with one hand.
Small appliances cost least as add-ons
The price of a pickup is a service fee charged once, plus each appliance’s own add-on price. On their own, small appliances start at $70: a blender, a coffee maker or a microwave. Added to a pickup that’s already happening, each costs only its add-on price: $15 for a blender, coffee maker or microwave.
So the smart move is to wait for, or plan, a pickup that’s already happening.
Gather them up
Kitchen clear-outs tend to turn up more small appliances than expected. Check the backs of cupboards and the garage shelves for:
- A blender or food processor that has not been used in years
- A coffee maker replaced by a newer one
- A spare microwave from a previous kitchen
- A bread maker, a slow cooker or a deep fryer
Put them all on the same pickup as the bigger appliance that’s going.
Get each one ready
Blenders. Take the jar off the base and pack it separately; a glass jar is the one part that breaks. Remove the blade assembly if it unscrews, and wrap it.
Coffee makers. Empty the reservoir and the drip tray, and pack the carafe separately.
Microwaves. Take out the glass turntable plate.
A cardboard box with a towel in it holds every small appliance and loose glass part together, and makes the carry a single trip.

- Cupboards and garage checked for anything else going
- Glass jars, carafes and turntable plates packed separately
- Water emptied from anything that holds it
- Everything unplugged and cords wrapped
- All of it added to the same pickup as the big appliance
